Victorian Winsor & Newton ‘Extra Handsome’ Mahogany watercolour box 1870 – 1880
The mahogany box is inlaid with a brass sunburst to the lid. Fitted with 36 cakes of paint, bottles of gum water , extract of ox gall,
Porcelain palettes, two cut glass water pots, cut glass ink wells and an assortment of original paint brushes, drawing tools and
conte sticks. The front has a concealed drawer for porcelain palettes.
The inside of the lid has a gilt leather insert inscribed – Winsor & Newton Limited, manufacturer’s by appointment to Her Majesty and to T.R.H The Prince and Princess of Wales,
